Abortmotstandarar i Russland tar etter USA/ Russia adopts anti abortion strategies from the USA

Russland var det fyrste landet i verda til å tillata sjølvbestemt abort då dei innførte dette i 1920. Dei har også den høgaste abortrata i verda på 53,7 per 1000 kvinner mot 15,2 i Noreg i følge data frå FN. Tradisjonelt sett har det vore dårleg tilgang og skepsis mot prevensjon. I tillegg har abort stort sett vore gratis i motsetnad til prevensjon.

No er fødselsrata fallande og Putin har sendt ut eit varsku og ynske om å snu denne trenden. Dei har høg dødsrate, låg fødselsrate og også låg immigrasjon.

Dette fører til endra klima i forhold til abort og ein ser no eit auka press på retten til sjølvbestemt abort med forslag om å forby naudprevensjon, pålegg om å sjå fosteret på ultralyd før abort, obligatorisk tenketid osv. Traditionally there has been a low use of and scepticism towards contraception. Abortion has also been free of charge in comparison to contraception.

Russia has a high death rate, low fertility rate and also low immigration and is now facing a problem that Putin has adressed in the Duma.  This leads to a change in climate when it comes to abortion and there are suggestions trying to decrease the access to abortion.
